Enabling Access to Musical Opportunities

Outstanding music-making is something that is rooted in each of our schools. As such, the Foundation's passion for facilitating transformational music opportunities for pupils naturally extends to the local community.

We are proud to support schools and young people in the CV34 postcode in order to enhance the quality and accessibility of musical opportunities for young people within the local community:

Westgate String Project

Since 2018, The Westgate String Project, proudly sees Warwick Preparatory School teach violin sessions to Year 3 at Westgate School.

As a Foundation, we provide the instruments for the pupils to use, while the scheme also sees Alison Griggs – Director of Music at Warwick Preparatory School - and another violin teacher attend Westgate every Thursday afternoon to teach the pupils.

The project also sees our staff help to prepare pupils for an end-of-term concert performance to parents.

The project is ran in association with Warwickshire Music, who themselves teach Year 4 pupils at Westgate School.

Warwick - A Singing Town

We proudly founded Warwick – A Singing Town, which represents our passion for facilitating outstanding musical opportunities and extends these opportunities to the local community.

Through Warwick – A Singing Town, we:

  • Provide weekly singing tuition via our Choral Entrepreneurs for State Primary Schools within the Warwick CV34 Postcode
  • Provide Sing for Joy community choirs based at Chase Meadow Community Centre; school wellbeing visits to Warwick Hospital and local residential homes
  • Support community events (e.g. Rotary concert) - Singing workshops days; The Big Local Night Out at the Bridge House Theatre, singing stages within the community

Orchestra of the Swan

We are proud to work closely with our partners at Orchestra of the Swan. This unique partnership provides access to talented children across Warwickshire to the Foundation’s outstanding music facilities, giving all young people the opportunity to discover and experience the joys of music.

As part of this partnership, Orchestra of the Swan players visit multiple schools within the CV34 postcode, including All Saints Church of England Primary School, Heathcote Primary School, and Westgate Primary School.

At these schools, the Swan run workshops that are tailored to each specific school, designed both to inspire the children about music-making, introduce classical instruments and to give them an experience of live music.
