Supporting Academic Potential

At Warwick Schools Foundation, we proudly offer a range of academic initiatives that help local pupils to develop outside their school and reach their full potential.

These academic initiatives include:

Saturday School at King's High

Saturday School at King’s High was founded with the aim of supporting local year 5 students who require extra help with their numeracy, literacy, and confidence skills. Headteachers at participating schools identify pupils that would most benefit from extra support and send letters to their parents offering them spaces at the Saturday School, free of charge. The school runs during term-time and lessons are planned to align with the national curriculum and recap and revise much of what is taught in the children’s timetabled lessons. Classes are delivered by specialist subject and key stage teachers and are at a much lower capacity than those in mainstream school which enables the students to get much more focused support and creates a space for their confidence and love for learning to grow.

‘’The fact that they feel they can use their skills and apply them when they return to their classrooms is so rewarding. It's watching the confidence in themselves grow that makes Saturday support so worthwhile." -  Rebecca Havard, Saturday School Maths Teacher

Inspire Programme Tuesday Afternoon Sessions

As part of our ongoing desire to support and nurture the potential of talented pupils in the local area, we have recently launched Tuesday Afternoon sessions for external pupils as part of our Inspire Programme at King’s High School.

These weekly sessions see gifted and talented pupils from primary schools across the CV34 postcode come in to King’s High School, with teachers from King’s High running Maths and English sessions for those that come in.

Pupils not only get access to the excellent King’s classrooms and standard of teaching, but they are welcomed into an environment that is truly conducive to each pupil reaching their academic potential. The sessions are designed to provide gifted and talented pupils with access to enhanced learning opportunities that they would not be able to get elsewhere.

We are looking forward to the expansion of this programme in the coming months.

Science in Action

As part of our Science In Action programme, students from Myton, Aylesford, and Campion schools work collaboratively with each other and alongside students from our Foundation on scientific investigations that go beyond the A-Level curriculum.

The Science in Action programme is an important enrichment activity hosted by Warwick School, utilising state-of-the-art labs and equipment which runs from September to June every Friday afternoon.

Students on the programme successfully refer to this activity as part of their UCAS applications and university interviews (including Oxbridge).

Since it has been introduced, we have been delighted that many students from the local area have taken up this fantastic opportunity which has allowed them to further enhance their experience in science and engineering.
