The ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award 'recognises talented new groundspeople and/or industry individuals who have demonstrated exceptional attitude, performance, and progress since joining the sector', and celebrates those with 'fresh perspectives, energy, and insight'.

The shortlist for the award involved representatives from Lord's Cricket Ground and Arsenal FC Youth Academy, and with a panel of industry experts looking for evidence of consistently high-level performance, Matt's achievement cannot be overstated.

There are a huge variety of sports that take place across the Foundation - from rugby to cricket, summer and winter sports; the work that Matt and the wider team do to ensure that our playing fields are in the best possible condition for our pupils is truly outstanding, and we are delighted that his work has been recognised.
