Warwick Schools Foundation’s Oxbridge pathway is incredibly beneficial in facilitating independent thought and originality in all individuals that take up this opportunity.
The support I received from Warwick Schools Foundation was invaluable to my Oxbridge application. The step-by-step guidance provided by Deputy Head (Academic) Dr Seal made me feel secure in my knowledge of the application process and was incredibly helpful in directing my preparation throughout Sixth Form. The generosity of the King’s High History and Politics Department in giving me useful pointers on my personal statement and aiding my interview preparation was so appreciated, and their positivity throughout the process made my Oxford application an exciting and enjoyable time.
The coordination across the Foundation in enabling students to achieve their potential is notable; the tailored History Admissions Test sessions with Senior Tutor Mr Jefferies were of immense help in taking my thinking beyond A Level and giving me the opportunity to consider historical sources creatively. Overall, Warwick Schools Foundation’s Oxbridge pathway is incredibly beneficial in facilitating independent thought and originality in all individuals that take up this opportunity.
I am currently in my second year of my BA History degree at St Hilda’s College, Oxford. I have now incorporated Russian into my degree, taking an accelerated course to become fluent in the reading of Russian texts within the year, enabling me to study historical sources in the original Russian in my final year. St Hilda’s is helping me to fund a month-long trip to ’the Stans’ of Central Asia next year, where I will be visiting historical archives in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in addition to travelling across the region, visiting sites such as Song Kul in Kyrgyzstan and Samarkand in Uzbekistan.
Outside of my degree, I play percussion in Oxford University Wind Orchestra, am on the committees of St Hilda’s Ball Committee and St Hilda’s History Society and enjoy salsa dancing classes with my friends! After I graduate, I am looking towards a career in diplomacy, and am currently investigating different pathways into the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
